Oral Health Exams:
Every new patient will receive a thorough examination and a precise assessment of his or her oral health. Dr. Edwards will discuss your needs, answer your questions, advise you of options, and make his recommendations for treatment. Intra-oral cameras, computer imaging, oral cancer screening, mapping of existing restorations and periodontal health assessments are performed at exam appointments. Printed pamphlets and question/answer sessions are available for every patient to view and understand the treatment they need.
Ultrasonic Cleaning:
We can perform even the most difficult cleanings thoroughly and comfortably using ultrasonic instruments. This gentle vibration, called cavitation, removes heavy deposits allowing us to reduce the need for scraping. You'll enjoy the nurturing care of regular professional cleanings. They enhance the health of your teeth and gums, and you'll feel better with your mouth and breath as fresh as they can be.
Cosmetic Dentistry:
A beautiful smile makes you look healthier and younger, no matter your age. Dr. Edwards is uniquely qualified and experienced to provide your cosmetic dentistry. He uses state-of-the-art methods to give the beautiful smile you want. There is a wide range to esthetic dentistry...and the appropriate options are always unique to the patient involved. From porcelain crowns and veneers to teeth whitening and cosmetic metal-free dentures, the possibilities of improving your smile are endless. Your wonderful transformation can be life changing.
Periodontal (Gum) Treatment:
The gum and bone tissue are the foundation for a healthy smile. We offer the latest treatments to stop the damage caused by periodontal disease-the nations leading cause of adult tooth loss. These include soft tissue management and deep scaling, new pharmaceuticals and new tissue regenerative procedures, and if needed, periodontal surgeries by a licensed specialist to bring your gums back to health. Dr. Edwards also performs cosmetic periodontal surgery using laser methods, which can even improve the appearance of your smile.
Children's and Adult Orthodontics
- Children as young as 7 or 8 should be evaluated for skeletal growth. At this age, there may be differences in the growth of the upper jaw vs. the lower jaw, which may have to be monitored or corrected. Of course, you are never too old to make your teeth look straight or correct the function of your jaw structure. Many of our patients are adults, and many choose to go with esthetic braces (white braces) vs. the traditional metal braces. We utilize an excellent orthodontist who works with both adult and child patients. Please call for a referral.
Dental Implants:
Do you wish you could start over? Dental implants are like a second chance at having natural teeth. These durable tooth replacements allow you to close the gaps from missing teeth, or anchor custom-fit dentures and partials for unsurpassed stability and comfort. Dr. Edwards works closely with a local Oral Surgeon to provide a cosmetic functional result that can last a lifetime. Our oral surgeon is a specialist in this restorative option, providing you with the fine craftsmanship and attention to detail that each of our patients have come to trust.
Crowns and Bridges:
There are many techniques and materials for fabricating crowns and bridges. Their beauty and longevity depend upon choosing the best techniques and using the finest craftsmanship. Dr. Edwards is up-to-date on all the latest materials and techniques and can recommend the particular type that will best suit your needs for strength, health, and incredibly natural-looking results.
Dentures and Partials:
Dr. Edwards's goal is to make beautiful reconstructions and comfortable-fitting dentures and partials. In the case of any denture or partial, you will always have the opportunity to give your input on the look of your selected teeth by viewing them before finalizing the work. Always keep in mind...these days both dentures and partials can be supported with implants or precision attachments. Implants can be used for stability as your denture snaps onto them for support. Precision clasps use your existing teeth to place attachments that your denture snaps onto. Partial dentures can also be made with synthetic clasps, a flexible acrylic that removes the unsightly metals clasps on the outside of teeth. In the past, partial dentures that replaced multiple teeth required metal on the facial surfaces of teeth...easily noticed metal that most of us would not like. Today, you have a second option, in the form of a flexible acrylic. In most cases, this allows us to have the metal substructure only on the inside of the partial denture, where it cannot be seen. The flexible acrylic allows us to get retention around your teeth without any metal showing.
Sedation Dentistry:
Nervous about undergoing dental treatment? You can relax; we offer the simplest method yet for sedation. Dr. Edwards can provide limited conscious sedation with various oral medications. This has become a safe and routine method used in our office. You don't have to put it off any longer; wake up to a new, beautiful smile!
Root Canals:
There are times when the only way to save a tooth is by performing a root canal procedure.... think of it as a deeper filling. In most cases, a root canal is necessary because of three reasons. (1) There is deep decay in the tooth (2) there has been trauma to the tooth and/or there is an infection, or (3) the tooth has become sensitive to hot and/or cold due to various reasons. A root canal is almost always followed by a rebuilding of the tooth and a crown restoration to return the tooth to its natural function.
